What is a recommended computer for Close Talk Control?

Post by Closetalk Support »

Close Talk Control is a WIN32 application which means it requires any of the Microsoft Windows Vista, 7 or 8.x 32 and 64 bit operating system to run. The basic functionality of CT Control requires very little computer power, a budget PC specification will do just fine. However, when using camera follow and other more advanced functionality such as dual display outputs, please choose a medium to high perfomance PC. For large e-democracy installations in municipalities, a server class PC with redundant power supplies and hard drive mirroring is strongly recommended.

A good computer specification could be:
  • Any modern Intel or AMD processor
  • 2GB RAM, 4GB or more with Windows 7 and 8.x
  • 10GB free hard drive space
  • One high quality graphic adapter set to resolution 1024x768 or higher OR two graphic adapters or a dual-output adapter with the primary adapter set to resolution 800x600 (or higher) and the secondary adapter set to resolution 640x480 or 800x600
  • One or more primary computer displays for the operator and/or chairman
  • If a secondary display output is used, a large format LCD or LED display or video projector. DO NOT use plasma displays
  • One free RS-232 serial port for the Central Unit, another free RS-232 port if using camera follow
  • Windows Vista, 7 or 8.x, 32 or 64 bit
  • Mouse
  • Keyboard
  • Printer
